PEIA offers four Preferred Provider Benefit (PPB) Plans: Gold, Silver, Gold High Deductible, and WV Bronze High Deductible for Active Employees.
Non-Medicare Retirees, if eligible, may enroll in Gold or Silver plans, but not Gold High Deductible or WV Bronze High Deductible plans.
PPB Gold Plan has higher premiums but lower deductibles.
PPB Silver Plan has lower premiums but higher deductibles.
PPB Gold High Deductible Plan is an IRS-qualified high-deductible health plan; it has lower premiums but a high deductible that must be met before the plan begins to pay. The Gold High Deductible Plan is designed to work with a health savings account.
PPB WV Bronze High Deductible Plan is the West Virginia-only plan; all services are provided in West Virginia, except for emergency care to stabilize the patient and a limited number of procedures that are not available in West Virginia. The WV Bronze High Deductible Plan is designed to work with a health savings account.
