Hemophilia Program


PEIA/CAMC/WVU Hemophilia Disease Management Program 

Effective July 1, 2020 (update July 1, 2025)

To provide quality care at a reasonable cost, PEIA, CAMC and WVU have partnered to provide a Hemophilia Care Program to PEIA PPB plans A, B, C, and D members.   

Benefits/Member Incentives:

Members who participate in the program will be eligible for the following incentives:
1. Hemophilia expenses will be paid at 100% with no deductible, copay or coinsurance
2. PEIA will pay for travel and lodging
a. Child and 1 or 2 parents
b. Adult and an accompanying adult
c. Lodging will be a maximum of 2 nights
d. Gas will be reimbursed at the IRS medical mileage rate
e. Tolls will be reimbursed with a receipt
f. Receipts for food will be paid at 100% for the child and parents or for the 2 adults
3. The annual multidisciplinary evaluation required for 340-B programs will not be billed to PEIA. 

Process:

Patients who participate in CAMC or WVU’s Hemophilia Disease Management Program:

Patients will be identified by UMR and Case Management will encourage members to use CAMC or WVU’s hemophilia program. Patient can use any CAMC or WVU owned facility where the program is available. 

1. UMR’s Case Management will review each case and introduce the patient/family to CAMC or WVU’s Hemophilia Disease Management Program.
a. Participation will be encouraged through the incentives listed above, but patients/families will not be required to participate.
b. Patients/families who do not participate in this 340-B program, will not be eligible for the incentives. 
c. Patients/families who agree to participate will be referred to a CAMC or WVU facility for an introduction to the program and to schedule their initial evaluation. 
2. The annual evaluation must be completed at a CAMC or WVU facility.  Ongoing medical care may continue through the patient’s primary care provider and/or specialists. 



Patients who chose not to participate:

Individuals who choose not to participate in CAMC or WVU’s Hemophilia Program will maintain their current benefits.   Covered services will be paid at the appropriate benefit level for the members plan, subject to the deductible.  Office visit copays will apply.  

​Lodging and Travel Expenses:​

Lodging expenses include:
1. Overnight expenses incurred due to need to travel to a CAMC or WVU facility to receive services in connection with the PEIA/CAMC/WVU Hemophilia Disease Management Program. 
2. Expenses incurred by the patient’s companion to enable the patient to receive services from the PEIA/CAMC hemophilia Disease Management Program.
a. For children under the age of 18, lodging will be covered for one (1) or two (2) parents.
b. For patients over the age of 18, lodging will be covered for one (1) companion. 
3. Lodging will be covered at 100%, not to exceed $110.00 per night.
Travel expenses (gas & meals) include:
1. Expenses incurred while traveling between the patient’s home and the medical facility to receive services in connection with the PEIA/CAMC/WVU Hemophilia Disease Management Program. 
2. Gas and toll receipts are required for reimbursement. 
3. Receipts are required for the reimbursement of meals.  
a. The daily limit per individual is $75 per person. 

​The six-month timely filing provision applies to the submission of all lodging and travel expenses.
